The Amazing Race eliminated "Sisters" Kristine Bernabe and Rubina Bernabe, who began the leg several hours behind the first-place team, during the Season 38 episode that aired Wednesday night on CBS.

"It's okay. We did our best and I'm so proud of us," Rubina said after the team's elimination.

"We wanted to have fun today. We grew up watching the show with our mom... and I hope she's looking down on us... This taught us so much more about ourselves and about each other."

The Amazing Race began with "Brothers" Eric Des Lauriers and Tucker Des Lauriers leaving the previous Pit Stop at 8:58AM.

All teams were required to self-drive a stick shift from Dubrovnik to Trstend Arboretum, a botanical garden with 500-year-old trees in Croatia.

"Dating Couple" Kyland Young and Taylor Hale departed in second place at 9:24AM with "Brothers and entrepreneurs" Jag Bains and Jas Bains not far behind them in third place.

"Engaged Couple" Izzy Gleicher and Paige Seber left much later in seventh place at 11:47AM, and then Kristine and Rubina left the Pit Stop in last place at 12:55PM.

That meant Kristine and Rubina -- who had proudly survived a U-Turn in the last leg -- began the leg about four hours later than the first-place team.

Once at the botanical garden, it became time for teams to complete one of two possible Detour tasks: "Bag It Up" or "Pull It Up."

In "Bag It Up," teams had to shovel raw salt, fill a wheelbarrow, and then fill and seal 10 bags with the salt. Each bag had to weigh between 20 to 21 pounds before delivering them to a "salt of the earth manager."

In "Pull It Up," teams were required to row out into a bay and look for buoys suspending oysters. They had to pick up three of them, return to shore, and deliver the oysters to a nearby restaurant.

Eric and Tucker chose to "Bag It Up," and so did Jas and Jag, "Brothers" Joseph Abdin and Adam Abdin, Izzy and Paige, and "Father and daughter" Jack Baham and Chelsie Baham, in that order.

Kyland and Taylor chose "Pull It Up" with Taylor boasting about her man's muscles. They were later joined by "Sisters" Natalie Negrotti and Stephanie Negrotti and eventually Kristine and Rubina.

Following the Detour, teams had to make their way to Park Komarda in the Village of Stone to find their  next clue.

It then became time for a Roadblock task, which sent one member from each team on a fact-finding mission.

Using a relief map as a reference, the participating Racers had to find certain locations, memorizing facts at each spot. Once they returned to the park, they'd have to correctly answer three questions to receive their next clue.

If the Racers didn't get it right the first time, the questions were going to change with each attempt.

Eric chose to take on the Roadblock task as well as Taylor, Jas, Stephanie, and Adam.

Taylor didn't realize the questions were going to change, so she got held up at the task.

"I thought I hacked the system, but the system hacked me," Taylor admitted.

Stephanie and Adam helped each other out with the Roadblock task, which they both benefited from.

After the Roadblock, teams advanced to the Pit Stop at Prapratno Cove, a popular romantic destination.

Eric and Tucker met Phil on the Pit Stop mat in first place, and for winning the leg, they received a five-day trip for two to Cairo, Egypt.

"We're ready to keep gripping it and ripping it!" Tucker told the cameras.

Jas and Jag finished the leg in second place, and Kyland and Taylor were named Team No. 3.

On the way to the Pit Stop, Stephanie argued with Natalie about whether to wait for Joseph and Adam. While the girls agreed it was important to keep the "Trainwreck" alliance intact, Stephanie said they should never backtrack in the Race just to help another team.

Natalie and Stephanie completed the leg in fourth place, and Joseph and Adam ran to the mat seemingly seconds after them in fifth place.

"Guys, we drove to look for you all around!" Natalie insisted.

The guys weren't upset at all, and both teams established that they were still working together.

While Jack and Izzy were working on the Roadblock simultaneously, Izzy asked if Jack wanted to work with her, but he declined since there was only one other team behind them.

Kristine and Rubina, for their part, were still searching for oysters in their boat. Rubina dropped her prescription eyeglasses into the water, costing them time.

Jack and Chelsie made it to the Pit Stop in sixth place, and then Izzy and Paige were shown getting lost and asking a local for directions.

As Rubina was working on the Roadblock task, Izzy and Paige were declared Team No. 7 at the Roadblock.

Kristine and Rubina then raced to the Pit Stop, but they finished in eighth -- and last -- place.

Rubina told Phil that she'd love to see Izzy and Paige win The Amazing Race, even though Tucker was her boyfriend.

"Tucker is good at everything, and it would make sense if he won. But I love an underdog. I'd love to see a female-female team take it home. Sorry but not sorry! I love you!" Rubina shouted at Tucker, who wasn't there.
