Season 41 of Survivor will mark "a bold new era," according to the network, with fresh new elements that will ramp up the battle for $1 million and the title of "Sole Survivor."

When the game begins on the islands of Fiji, the 18 castaways will be divided into three tribes of six "to face a faster, more intense and more dangerous season than ever before."

CBS has teased that the unpredictable, accelerated pace of the game will test "even the strongest Super Fan," as supplies are minimal, reward challenges are scarce, and players will come across advantages that could help their game or simply extinguish their torch.

"I cannot remember a time when I've been this excited to launch a new season of Survivor," host and executive producer Jeff Probst said in a statement.

"Survivor 41 features a really likable group of savvy Survivor players, and they are in for the most intense, most difficult and most dangerous season we've ever done."

"We know we have the most loyal fans of any show on television, and we are pumped to bring them a new, exciting season of Survivor!" he added.

In a Survivor first, Jeff will take viewers inside the action by addressing the audience directly throughout the season, and he'll make fans aware of some of the twists before players even face them.

In addition, viewers can test their own Survivor skills by playing "Game within the Game," which allows fans to spot a hidden rebus puzzle within the episode and solve it each week.

Following a year-long delay due to the coronavirus pandemic, Survivor's crew returned to Fiji in March 2021 to film two seasons of the CBS series back to back. Jeff previously teased the new season is like Survivor 2.0 and a brand new game.

Inside Survivor previously reported the new Survivor game will be shortened to 26 days instead of the usual 39 days. Physical challenges are also expected to be more brutal than ever, with no big feasts for rewards.

After Survivor premieres its 41st season on September 22, the show will continue to air new episodes on Wednesday nights in its normal timeslot of 8-9PM ET/PT beginning on September 29.

Survivor is produced by S.E.G. Holdco., LLC with Jeff, Mark Burnett, Matt VanWagenen, Kahaia Pearson and Jesse Jensen serving as executive producers.
