"Unfortunately, I don't think there was anything I could do. It seems like too many people turned on me, and that [Kyle Fraser] and [Shauhin Davari] flipped, which I had suspicion they would," David said in his final words.
"My biggest takeaway from this is that there are no heroes and there are no villains; we're all just people. And we're all going to be heroes one day and villains the next, and I think that's okay."
David added, "I'm going to try to get some chocolate milk as soon as I get out of here. That's at least the solace in getting voted out -- I get to look forward to that."
The Survivor broadcast began on Night 15 after the merged Niu Nai tribe had unanimously voted out Chrissy Sarnowsky at Tribal Council.
Shauhin, a 38-year-old debate professor from East Bay, CA, who currently resides in Costa Mesa, CA, said Chrissy went home because she had attempted to take a stab at him and the castaways "with muscles" in the tribe.
David admitted to Kamilla Karthigesu, a 31-year-old software engineer from Toronto, Canada, who currently resides in Foster City, CA, that he had floated her name because he was worried Chrissy was going to play her "Shot in the Dark."
Kamilla clapped back, "You're a horrible liar, don't worry."
Kamilla proceeded to vent in a Survivor confessional, "David is dead to me. He parades himself around camp talking about how he's playing an honest and truthful game, and he was the one person who lied straight to my face."
"He tried to vote me out," she added, "and David wants to keep all the strong people in the game so that he can continue to have amazing Survivor challenges."
Kamilla called David "an idiot" and said he was acting like he was trying to qualify for the Olympics with Joe, a 45-year-old fire captain from Vacaville, CA, who currently resides in West Sacramento, CA, and Eva Erickson, a 24-year-old PhD candidate from Eagan, MN, who currently resides in Providence, RI.

David said he wished Kamilla had gone instead of Chrissy and he needed to figure out why Kyle, a 31-year-old attorney from Roanoke, VA, who currently resides in Brooklyn, NY, seemed so hesitant to vote out Kamilla. David was finally becoming suspicious of Kamilla and Kyle's tight bond.
On Day 16, the Survivor castaways were feeling a good vibe at camp, and everyone discussed taking Kamilla out next right in front of Kyle.
David had a new No. 1 ally in Mary Zheng, a 31-year-old substance abuse counselor from Montgomery Village, MD, who currently resides in Philadelphia, PA, and Kyle was annoyed that it had to be "David's way or the highway."
Kyle said his Survivor relationship with David fell apart when David had tried to pressure him into voting out Kamilla.
"I've been riding the middle very hard in this game, and I think that's starting to fall apart. So now, I've got to play!" Kyle told the Survivor cameras.
Kyle therefore spoke to Shauhin and warned him that David had said Shauhin and Kamilla had something on the side. Kyle thought David was taking a shot at the both of them by trying to target Shauhin's pal Kamilla.
"They're trying to neuter us or something," Kyle told Shauhin.
"I'm telling you: I am with you," Shauhin assured him.

David had a gut feeling that Shauhin and Kyle were working together and planned to flip on him, and so he talked to Mary and Eva about his suspicions.
Eva, however, thought Mary and David were being really paranoid, and she didn't like that there was some "weird extra tension" amongst her previously-strong group of nine.
David confronted Kyle about his apparent "scrambling," but Eva just wished everyone could be friends.
"I had my reservations and some things weren't adding up. Obviously this is Survivor. When that happens, you've got to be wary," David said.
"Likewise. I was just talking. I'm not doing anything; I'm just talking game," Kyle responded.
Kyle called David's behavior "foolish," and he said he didn't appreciate the confrontation.
David could tell that Kyle was all worked up, and Kyle acknowledged that he's an emotional person and couldn't just bounce back quickly from a conversation like that.
Kyle then determined that Mary needed to go with David getting voted out right behind her.
Hours later, in the middle of the night when everyone was sleeping, Eva attempted to sneak out of camp in order to potentially receive a new advantage, per the instructions of a scroll she had uncovered in her taco Reward.
Shauhin caught Eva creeping out of camp, and he automatically assumed that Eva had gone after an advantage.
Shauhin told Joe about Eva's actions, but Joe said he wasn't worried about Eva at all because she's "a team player" and they could all talk it in the morning.
When Eva arrived at a podium lit up by torches all around, she learned she had won an extra vote. She could take the vote and return to camp or risk it to earn something more powerful in the Survivor game.

Eva knew losing her vote could be detrimental to her alliance in case something went wrong, but she also had a 50-50 shot at winning safety.
Eva therefore decided to risk her Survivor vote, and she picked the correct bamboo piece!
Before Survivor host Jeff Probst reads the votes, Eva could play her "Safety Without Power" advantage, allowing her to leave Tribal Council immediately.
"You will not cast a vote, but more importantly, you cannot be voted out. The last time this can be played is when there are seven people left in the game," Eva read.
Eva was then given an opportunity to risk that Survivor advantage to choose one of three more bamboo sticks.
One bamboo contained an Immunity Idol that would be good until the Final 5. The other two bamboos contained "Lose Your Safety Without Power," which means she would return to camp empty-handed.
Eva already had a hidden Immunity Idol, but she knew a second one would give her immense power in the Survivor game.
Eva decided to stick with her "Safety Without Power" advantage, and she was proud of herself for having so much power in the game.
The next day, first thing in the morning, Eva came clean about her advantage to Joe, Kyle and Shauhin.
Eva sharing this information, unprompted, solidified trust with Shauhin, but he still called her "dangerous," knowing she could end up winning the game.
However, Shauhin had no plans to target Eva.

Afterward, Kyle told Kamilla about Eva's advantage, and then he spoke to Joe about how he was worried David and Mary were going to take a shot at either him or Shauhin.
David got an uneasy feeling when he approached Kyle and Joe, and so he warned Eva and Joe that something was going on between Shauhin, Kyle and Kamilla.
"Something is not right, bro," David told Joe. "Something is going on."
David accused Joe of having gone back on his word, but Joe denied ever doing that. David therefore angered Joe, who chose to trust his alliance and ignore David's concerns.
Kyle later tried to smooth things over with Joe, sharing stories from his troubled past and how he had broken laws and made some mistakes. Kyle explained how David's confrontation was a trigger for him.
Joe talked to Kyle about how David's demeanor had changed in the last 24 or 48 hours and that he no longer liked playing Survivor with him.
Joe subtly picked Eva's brain for her thoughts on David, saying there was anxiety and mistrust in their group.
Eva shared how Mary and David were very paranoid but breaking up their alliance would result in warfare. Eva, however, knew that she wouldn't be able to recognize when people were lying to her.
"I believe that I am the one who is in the exact middle. [Our alliance of nine] is so close to having accomplished something that is so rare in Survivor, but people are starting to get scared," Eva told the Survivor cameras.
On Day 17 of Survivor, the Niu Nai tribe met Jeff for the season's next Individual Immunity Challenge.
For the challenge, each castaway was required to hold onto a handle, clamping a ball between a set of jaws. If, at any point, a person stepped off the platform or lowered the handle -- which would result in the ball dropping to the ground -- he or she would be out.

The Survivor castaways were also playing for Reward in the form of ham and cheese wraps, veggie wraps, crackers and dip, juices, soda, peach cobbler and chocolate covered strawberries.
Star Toomey, a 28-year-old sales expert from Monrovia, Liberia, who currently resides in Augusta, GA, was the first person out of the challenge, and then she was quickly followed by Mary, Kamilla, and Mitch.
Mitch was the only person in the tribe who never got to enjoy a Reward up to this point.
Eva dropped out of the challenge next, and so it became a battle between Joe, Kyle, David and Shauhin.
Shauhin couldn't hang in there any longer, and so he was out next. Kyle stepped off the platform and so he was out next.
Joe almost fell off the platform but he recovered, and Jeff pointed out how this challenge was about endurance and concentration.
After nearly 20 minutes of competition, David's fatigued legs appeared to give out and he stepped off the platform. Joe therefore won immunity after a pretty epic showdown.
"I should've won that. I had a lot left in the tank, and I'm not feeling confident today," David announced to Jeff, before adding, "I had a lot left to give but I made one mistake and he won."
Joe made "the human move" by inviting Mitch to join him on Reward since he hadn't eaten and was struggling in the Survivor game, and he also picked Shauhin and Eva to enjoy the food with them.
After the challenge, Mary and David were convinced that they were in trouble and should probably put votes on Mitch.
Star asked David and Mary to vote for Shauhin. David said he'd "love to" but he wanted to execute an easy vote in case Shauhin or Kyle had an idol to play.

Shauhin took the credit for planting seeds about David four days prior.
"All along, you allow the others to see it for themselves," Shauhin boasted in a Survivor confessional.
"It feels like a war that I've already been preparing for. Welcome to the party, David, I've been here for a minute! Let's party!"
Since Eva trusted Kyle and Shauhin "very much" in this game, she didn't like how David and Mary were causing paranoia.
David thought an idol was going to be played on Kamilla and so he asked Eva to vote for Mitch. When Eva went to Kyle to talk strategy, Kyle revealed how he was probably going to make a move on David.
Kyle hoped his allies could send David packing, and Joe promised Eva that he'd vote with her no matter what.
Eva hated the idea of betraying David because she trusted him, but she acknowledged how David may not have been working with all of her people.
Eva pointed out how she could vote out a likeable and social player in Mitch or blindside her ally, David. She recognized that she had a huge, game-altering decision to make.
At Tribal Council on Night 17, David was shown writing Mitch's name down in the voting booth, and Mitch was shown writing David's name down.
After all the votes were cast and tallied, Jeff read them aloud in the following order: Mitch, David, Mitch, David, Mitch, David, David, and David.
David was the tenth person voted out of Survivor 48, and he became the third member of the jury.
