Survivor: Edge of Extinction -- which was filmed back-to-back with the show's currently-airing Survivor: David vs. Goliath season in Fiji earlier this year -- will feature four returning castaways competing against 14 brand new players for the $1 million grand prize, according to Inside Survivor blogger Martin Holmes.

According to Holmes, the four returning castaways will be fan-favorites Joe Anglim, Aubry Bracco, Kelley Wentworth, and David Wright.

Joe previously competed on Survivor: Worlds Apart and Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance, while Aubrey competed on Survivor: Kaoh Rong and Survivor: Game Changers.

Kelly was on Survivor: San Juan Del Sur and Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance, and David -- the only Season 38 returnee who has only previously competed on one Survivor season -- appeared on Survivor Millennials vs. Gen X.

The new season, which was filmed on Fiji's Mamanuca Islands, is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, February 20 from 8-9PM ET/PT on CBS.

The four veteran castaways will serve as "captains," similar to Rob "Boston Rob" Mariano and Russell Hantz on Survivor: Redemption Island or Benjamin "Coach" Wade and Ozzy Lusth on Survivor: South Pacific, Holmes reported.

Survivor has also previously featured a "captains" twist on Survivor: Guatemala with Bobby-Jon Drinkard and Stephenie LaGrossa playing as returnees as well as Survivor: Philippines, which saw three former medically-evacuated players getting a second chance to play the game -- Michael Skupin, Jonathan Penner, and Russell Swan.

However, a Survivor season has never featured four "captains."

Since there will allegedly be 18 castaways competing on Survivor Season 38, it would seem possible that the game could begin with two tribes featuring two "captains" each, rather than four unevenly-divided tribes with one captain each.

Any big Survivor fan should easily be able to recognize Joe, Aubry, Kelley and David.

Joe is a two-time Survivor castaway, having reached the jury on both Survivor: Worlds Apart and Survivor: Cambodia: Second Chance in 2015. Joe never made it to the end because he was always viewed as a dangerous social and physical player.

Aubry most recently competed on Survivor: Game Changers in 2017 and finished in fifth place. Prior to her stint on Game Changers, Aubry claimed the runner-up spot on Survivor: Kaoh Rong in 2016.

Kelley will be coming back for her third attempt at the million on the long-running reality competition series after competing on Survivor: San Juan Del Sur in 2014 -- during which she had an early, pre-merge elimination -- and then Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance the following year, when she finished in fourth place.

Joe and Kelley may have an immediate friendship or rivalry on the upcoming 38th season of Survivor, as they both made it to the merge on Survivor: Cambodia but then Kelley ultimately voted him out on Day 32.

As for David, he is simply a memorable one-time player. David overcame numerous fears, insecurities and idiosyncrasies while testing his luck on Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X in 2016.

David placed fourth because the tribe viewed him as a big threat to win the game since he would have an incredible story to tell at the Final Tribal Council.

In the meantime, Season 37 of Survivor is about to reach its exciting conclusion on December 19. One of the Final 6 castaways will be crowned the winner and "Sole Survivor" of Survivor: David vs. Goliath.
