The 34-year-old "America's Got Talent" host discussed his separation from the 45-year-old singer in an interview on "The Meredith Vieira Show" on Friday. Cannon admitted the media has made the situation difficult, but said he and Carey are intent on keeping life normal for 3-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.

"They love mommy, they love daddy," he said of his children. "Being the fact that our situation, we have always been people who have been on the go coming and going, their life hasn't changed one bit. We spend holidays together, we do everything that we are supposed to do together as a family."

"The media, they can say whatever they want to say," he related. "They just make up all of those things. It's truly staying focused on family and what's right and getting through these times and doing what's right for the kids, so that's just where we are."

Cannon and Carey married in April 2008, and news of their separation broke in August. The actor has since covered up his tattoo dedicated to Carey, but declared he will "always love" the singer in September.
