NBC has announced The Baby Borrowers, a new reality series that will follow five young couples as they're thrust into adulthood, will premiere on Monday, February 18 at 8PM ET/PT.

The Baby Borrowers will follow the five participating couples -- ranging in age from 18 to 20 -- over the course of three weeks as they are given a home and a job in preparation for the arrival of their first baby, complete with pre-natal classes and a fake belly for the fake mom-to-be.

The couples will then be entrusted with caring for a baby -- and every few days -- the child each couple has gets older, changing from an infant to a toddler to a pre-teen to a teenager.  The last task has the couples caring for an elderly grandparent, which represents what might be in-store for them.

NBC announced in March it had begun production on The Baby Borrowers -- an American adaptation of a British series that generated some U.K. controversy prior to its January premiere on the BBC's BBC3 network due to its use of small children.

Richard McKerrow, who executive produced the original BBC version of the series, will reprise that role for NBC along with Tom Shelly.  The Baby Borrowers is produced by Love Productions.

The Baby Borrowers will replace NBC's primetime revival of American Gladiators in the Mondays at 8PM ET/PT time period beginning February 18.  American Gladiators will premiere with a special two-hour broadcast on Sunday, January 6 at 9PM ET/PT before one-hour episodes of the show move to its regular time period of Mondays at 8PM ET/PT beginning January 7.
