MTV has confirmed it's ordered Paris Hilton's My New BFF, a new reality competition series that will follow the former The Simple Life star on her quest to find a new best friend.

The 10-episode series is scheduled to air on MTV later this year with production slated to begin in Los Angeles at the end of May.

"It's undeniable that the world is always talking about Paris Hilton, and the same could be said about MTV," said MTV entertainment president Brian Graden. "Paris is one of the most searched icons on the Web... Now MTV will reveal the life of Paris, turn her fans into friends, and see what it takes to get close to one of the world's most well-known personalities."

The tentatively-titled series will start with Hilton inviting 20 "potential best friends" to L.A., where they'll all live under one roof and compete in various challenges designed to test their "loyalty, endurance, and girl politics."  In addition, the contestants will also learn the ins and outs of being a socialite -- from managing public feuds to surviving scandals.

Paris Hilton's My New BFF's winner will receive "an all-access pass to the VIP section of the VIP section, and life lessons from the master of contemporary Hollywood celebrity," according to MTV.

Beginning this week, fans will have a say in determining the potential BFFs that will appear on the show via a website designed solely for that purpose.  The potential BFFs will post profiles with blogs, pictures, and videos that explain why they belong on the show and fans will determine if they agree.

Paris Hilton's My New BFF is produced by MTV and Ish Entertainment and co-created and executive produced by Hilton. Michael Hirschorn and Stella Stolper are co-creators and will also serve as executive producers. Chris Choun and Jason Moore are also serving as executive producer.
