Paris Hilton's latest box-office venture didn't do so hot, so she's reportedly returning to her roots.

The former The Simple Life co-star is working on a new untitled reality show that is expected to be ordered by either MTV or VH1, Us Weekly reported Monday.

"The show is going to be about her searching for a new best friend," a source told Us. "Paris is tired of the haters and she's looking for someone new. She's looking for someone new and cool who she can trust."

In addition to wanting to weed-out the haters, Hilton is also presumably on the hunt for a new gal pal because her BFF and fellow former The Simple Life star Nicole Richie welcomed her first child with husband Joel Madden last month.

Hilton fans expecting to see the same The Simple Life antics on the socialites' new reality show will also apparently be disappointed.

"[The new show is] going to be full of good chick drama and you will see a side of Paris not seen on Simple Life," the source told Us.

After airing two seasons, E! Network decided against renewing The Simple Life for a sixth season last summer (the show's first three seasons had aired on Fox).

While Richie has been busy with her personal life since The Simple Life came to an end, Hilton has been trying to establish herself as an actress.

However The Hottie and the Nottie -- a comedy in which Hilton co-stars with Joel David Moore and Christine Lakin -- took in only $9,000 on its opening day earlier this month, playing on 111 screens.  It made roughly $25,000 in its opening weekend.
