Married at First Sight star Zach Justice is explaining why he was talking to Mindy Shiben's friend Lindsay and never told his wife about their conversations.

On Married at First Sight's tenth season, Zach admitted to Mindy he had been having conversations both via text and on the phone with her close friend Lindsay -- but only after Mindy asked him if he had been in touch with any of her pals after the wedding.

Zach claimed he had confided in Lindsay and she had given him advice on how to deal with Mindy and proceed in his marriage.

Mindy was blown away both Zach and Lindsay had been hiding their alleged friendship from her, and since both parties deleted their texts, Mindy assumed one or both of them was lying about what they had discussed.

"Alright Zach, I don't even know where to begin," host Jamie Otis admitted during the March 18 broadcast of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered in shock and disbelief. "What is the story here?"

"It was one of those things after we got back, things didn't go so well on the honeymoon, Lindsay reached out to me on Instagram and was like, 'Hey, heard things aren't going well. Here, you're not doing X, Y, and Z,' and I was like, 'You're totally right,'" Zach explained.

"And she was like, 'Look, Mindy is a great person. This is who she is,' yada yada yada. 'I understand she's emotional or whatever it might be.' And she was kind of giving me, I guess, insight on who Mindy was."

Jamie asked Zach why he didn't tell Mindy about his relationship with HER friend.

"A lot of that scenario, there is zero excuse to, you know, say, 'Why didn't I just bring this up?' And I think part of me thought, 'Alright, this is going to create more conflict,'" Zach shared.

"'Lindsay and I have had conversations about you. She said a lot of good things but she also said a lot of bad things to give me insight.'"

Jamie therefore asked Zach if he could understand why Mindy was "so suspicious," and he could definitely see where his wife was coming from.

"Did you ever get the feeling Mindy's friend was texting you for more than just helping out her friend?" Jamie asked.

"Umm, I'm incredibly naive when it comes to stuff like this, in a lot of situations," Zach said.

"I didn't feel that because I was so focused on, 'Here is the reason, the reason we're talking, and I need answers.' I had no idea if there was a motive there."

Married at First Sight expert Pastor Calvin Roberson didn't seem to be buy Zach's story, as he repeated, "My man. Zach, Zach, Zach." Pastor Cal even called Zach by his full name, "Zach Justice."

Zach told Mindy on Married at First Sight's tenth season he had only talked to Lindsay once on the phone before and hadn't spoken to her in days, but Mindy heard a different story once she confronted Lindsay about what was going on behind her back.

Lindsay insisted she and Zach had spoken on the phone two or three times up to that point and he had actually just texted her that very morning.

Mindy asked if Zach had reached out to Lindsay "for the hell of it" or to really just talk about Mindy, and Lindsay replied, "I think both. I felt like we were building a friendship outside of just you."

Lindsay then told Mindy that she was learning how Zach "manipulates things."

"So I said, 'I'm not going to talk to you again until filming is over,' like, 'We're done,'" Lindsay recalled.

Mindy found it strange Lindsay apparently intended to resume talking to Zach once filming was over, but Lindsay assured Mindy that she would block his number.

"I should [block him]. You're 100 percent right. I can do that right when I get off the phone with you. I have no interest in ever talking to him again. I think he's a liar and a sociopath," Lindsay told Mindy.

In the latest episode of Married at First Sight that aired on Wednesday night, Zach insisted to Pastor Cal he was being faithful to Mindy and wanted to try to make his marriage work.

Zach and Mindy therefore chose to stay together on "Recommitment Day," despite Pastor Cal's concerns Zach was on the show for the cameras and to build his fitness or modeling career.

Although Zach promised to put more effort into his relationship, the episode ended with him refusing to sleep in the same bedroom as Mindy, leaving her feeling, once again, rejected and alone.

In addition to Mindy and Zach, Married at First Sight also stars Taylor Dunklin and Brandon Reid, Katie Conrad and Derek Sherman, Meka Jones and Michael Watson, and Jessica Studer and Austin Hurd.
