Married at First Sight star Chris Williams says "the truth will come out" soon in terms of why he decided to marry a stranger when he just got out of a serious relationship and engagement.

Chris has come under fire for marrying Paige Banks on Married at First Sight's twelfth season when he had been engaged to another woman just three months prior.

Not only was Chris engaged, but he got his ex-fiancee pregnant!

On Tuesday, Lifetime's @mafslifetime Instagram account teased a split photo showing Paige telling Chris she'd "probably have to walk away" if Decision Day was today with the caption, "A storm is coming. Don't miss all the drama that's to come with a brand new episode of #MarriedAtFirstSight [Wednesday] night at 8/7c."

In the comments section, one Instagram user asked Chris, "Why would you go on the show in the first place if you were previously engaged and OBVIOUSLY still had sexual relations with the previous person you were with? Not coming at you wrong, I just really wanna know," one Instagram user wrote.

And Chris replied, "Keep watching the show! Please! The truth will come out in due time!"

Other Married at First Sight fans attacked Chris in the post's comments, but Chris fired back that he doesn't owe anyone an explanation.

He told one critic in particular, "Keep looking like a fool making assumptions based off not knowing a person at all."

Chris also slammed Season 1 Married at First Sight participant Jamie Otis in the comments after Jamie suggested Paige should run from her marriage because she deserves so much better from a husband.

"@Jamie Otis. Did anyone tell your husband to run when you embarrassed him on national tv, crying and pouting like a 5 year old while still in your wedding dress at the altar?" Chris wrote in his post.

"Nothing no one has ever done to their spouse ever compares to that. After two failed stints on the bachelor?"

Similar to how Chris said he was not attracted to Paige after their initial meeting, Jamie burst into tears at the sight of her husband, Doug Hehner. Jamie could barely look Doug in the eye when they exchanged vows, but they are still married today with two children.

"You and your husband's story of redemption afterwards is amazing," Chris continued in his post, "but you would think there would be a little more grace from you."

Chris continued to blow off steam later on his Facebook account, where he further posted about Jamie, "If I as a black man would have cried at the altar and said that my wife was ugly in the manner that was done with Jamie as a white woman, y'all would have called for the death penalty for my head!"

"Why is it some people can get forgiveness, but the hell with others? #TellMeIAmWrong," he added.

Chris hinted he wasn't quite over his ex and/or that he didn't have closure from his previous engagement when he kept bringing up his former love on his wedding day in his first conversation with Paige.

On Wednesday night's episode of Married at First Sight's twelfth season, Chris discovered his ex-fiancee is pregnant.

Although Chris was reluctant to share the news that was troubling him with Paige at first, she demanded answers, and so Chris finally came clean.

Chris clarified of his ex during a conversation with his Married at First Sight co-star Vincent Morales, "We've been broken up since May 2020, but that wasn't the last time we had sex, for sure."

Chris said his ex had known about her pregnancy "for a few weeks."

"But she didn't tell me right away," Chris shared. "I know she's being honest. I'm almost 100 percent confident that the kid is mine. But my concern is Paige and how that affects our marriage."

Vincent asked Chris whether he would get back together with his ex if Paige never entered the picture.

"I think that it is your natural inclination to want to have a full family -- two parents in a household -- with the kid, but I'm married, so [I] can't think about those things," Chris explained to Vincent.

Paige did not run from her marriage, but she was very confused about how to proceed and whether to stick with Chris considering she'd have to become a stepmom to his baby.

During a nice dinner out in Las Vegas on their honeymoon, Chris revealed to Paige that his ex-fiancee was six weeks along in her pregnancy and he had been intimate with her after her father passed away -- even though they were broken up and not on good terms at the time.

Paige admitted if that day was "Decision Day," she would walk away, but Chris promised his wife that he was "in it for the long haul" and his attraction to her had grown since their wedding.

Paige asked Chris if he still had strong feelings for his ex and if she thought there was a possibility of them getting back together.

"Right now, it doesn't matter if she's pregnant or not. You are my wife and nobody comes before you, so it doesn't matter what is going on with that. All that matters is the woman I made a vow to," Chris insisted.

Chris promised to support Paige in whatever she decided, but he admitted he might have to chase after her if she opted to leave him and quit their marriage.

A part of Paige didn't want to be around Chris and another part of her wanted to stay married under God's plan. She felt her vows were definitely being tested.

Chris suggested they should build a friendship and get to know on a deeper level, and Paige said she liked that idea because "God doesn't give you anything that you can't handle."

It appeared the couple had turned over a new leaf and were ready to take things on as a team, but Chris later had an emotional breakdown because neither Paige or himself seemed happy like the other four Married at First Sight couples appeared to be.

"I feel like I'm stuck in this and I'm crying because I've got a baby on the way. There's a lot going through my mind," Chris vented to the cameras.
