Married at First Sight star Austin has explained why he left Becca sleeping alone in bed during the beginning of their couples' retreat.

During the February 7 episode of Married at First Sight: Afterparty, Austin watched back a Season 17 clip of himself and Becca in bed together on the first night of the couples' retreat.

"I really don't know what happened. He just rolled out of bed and went," Becca tells the Married at First Sight cameras.

After Austin is shown taking his blanket and pillow to a different bedroom, Becca says, "He had said, 'Just so you know, I'm going to sleep in the big bedroom -- and you can come if you want.' But it didn't feel very inviting."

Austin painted a clearer picture of what was actually going on that night in a conversation with Afterparty host Keshia Knight Pulliam.

"I was fan-girling about being in one of the Broncos player's house," Austin said.

For the couples' retreat, producers booked the Married at First Sight couples to stay in a professional football player's house, and Austin recognized that the house belonged to a Denver Broncos team member -- one of his "all-time favorite players."

Austin recalled, "When I expressed to Becca, 'I want to do this. This is important to me, even if it's for some stupid reason,' and she was hesitant and unwanting to go in there. At least that's how I was taking it."

"I was, for whatever reason, very intent on being in that room," he added.

Austin explained how he was able to pinpoint that the house belonged to his favorite football player.

"I actually, through a distant connection, knew his personal chef," Austin said. "So I would see her stories of his house, and I just knew! When we walked downstairs, I was like, 'Oh my goodness!'"

Austin's Married at First Sight co-star, Lauren, joined him on Afterparty and also hinted that Austin may have had a a lot of alcohol to drink that night.

"I didn't see [Austin's late-night] walk, but I did hear some banging, which I could only assume was Austin hitting a couple of walls on the way down," Lauren shared with a laugh.

"I'm sorry, you were drunk, [Austin]. I don't think you meant any harm. I want to start there, but no woman wants to hear, 'Yeah, you can come if you want.' It doesn't sound very inviting."

Lauren also revealed, "Becca let me know that if you would've walked up behind her and said, 'Hey babe, let's go to the bedroom,' in some type of way that made her feel desired, [it would've been fine]."

Lauren explained to Austin that Becca had nothing against sleeping in the big bed.

"She just wanted to feel wanted, and I think that you were just out to lunch," Lauren clarified of Becca.

In Austin's defense, Keshia acknowledged how he and Becca probably wouldn't have wanted to have "half-drunk sex" for their first time together.

"If one person is drunk and the other is not, that could be a whole other situation that also could've gone really, really bad," Keshia noted.

Austin agreed, and he and Becca were able to quickly resolve the conflict and then enjoy a unique spa experience in Colorado the next day.

With only a couple of weeks left of the Married at First Sight process, Becca wants to sleep with her husband, but Austin has been pushing back and been reluctant to consummate his marriage.

Even when the spouses went on a four-day trip to Pennsylvania, off-camera, their intimacy didn't build.

"I'm running out of ideas. I'm running out of ways for us to connect that do separate us from a friendship and a romantic relationship," Becca lamented to the cameras during a recent Married at First Sight episode.

Austin admitted on Afterparty earlier this month that it was "hard" to have conversations about sex over and over again with his wife.

"It feels like it's driving us apart rather than bringing us together. It's hard to be talking about this same issue so many times, within a short period of time, without any real time to make things better," Austin explained.

Austin also alleged that he did initiate some physical touch in the bedroom but it went "unrecognized."

And when Keshia had asked Austin if he felt a romantic connection with Becca, Austin replied, "I absolutely do, and so it really sucks to hear she's questioning it as a friendship -- because, to me, it's never felt that way."

While Austin confessed he's "not the most romantic person in the world," he noted, "I've never viewed our relationship as a friendship."
