Married at First Sight expert Dr. Viviana Coles admits Jacob Harder is "in a really tough spot" with Haley Harris as he attempts to win her affection and improve their marriage.

Haley began pulling back from Jacob after they were intimate during their Las Vegas honeymoon, and she confessed once they moved into an Atlanta apartment together that she simply wasn't attracted to his looks or personality.

As the weeks progressed, Haley and Jacob did activities together in attempt to create some chemistry, but Haley cried on their one-month anniversary about how she was still feeling no connection with her husband -- at all, which left Jacob feeling rejected and defeated.

During the April 7 broadcast of Married at First Sight: Unfiltered, Viviana and Season 12 stars Briana Myles and Ryan Oubre watched back a clip of Haley and Jacob going on a double date to a pumpkin patch with Briana and her husband Vincent Morales.

Jacob tells Briana and Vincent in the clip that he got "hammered" one night with Haley and her friends and they all had "a pretty good time."

While the pair acknowledges they've had some happy moments, Haley admits she disliked how much she and Jacob argued. She adds that some of their fights were "major."

"It really does [get tiring]," Haley says in the clip.

Unfiltered host Jamie Otis -- who starred on Season 1 of Married at First Sight -- pointed out how Viviana had talked to Haley and Jacob multiple times about their marital issues.

"Absolutely," Viviana said.

"How do you think Jacob can get past that wall?" Jamie asked.

"He's in a really tough spot because if he tries too hard, that's unattractive to [Haley]. If he doesn't try enough, then she doesn't really have the motivation to move towards him," Viviana explained.

The expert added, "There would have to be a real mind shift in what truly a committed marriage looks like. There's still time though. We've definitely got weeks to go and a lot can happen!"

But Briana suggested Haley and Jacob simply didn't seem to be a great match.

"I mean, I had fun with them, like, when we hung out individually," Briana shared with a laugh. "But together, it was just very awkward."

Briana elaborated, "I think they both say things and take jabs at each other, and you can still tell they're trying to be cordial, but at the same time, like, how much longer can I be cordial?"

To Briana's point, Ryan added, "I do think that when they communicate, they do take those jabs at each other a little bit."

Ryan concluded, "I think that they both want this to work so bad that they get maybe even more sensitive to those jabs -- because they're wanting it so bad and maybe it's not the person that's right for them."

Ryan, however, revealed he didn't have those problems in his marriage to Clara Berghaus.

"I don't think we necessarily looked to get past [our disagreements]. We're really good about active listening in an argument to see if it's starting to get personal or if it's starting to cross a line," Ryan explained.

"[We'll question ourselves], 'Is this conversation getting productive? Yes or no?' I think we do a really, really good job of understanding that line, for sure."

In Haley and Jacob's marriage, Haley asked Jacob to engage with her more in conversation and take more interest in her passions and hobbies by asking questions and being a better listener. She also wanted him to stop bringing up her lack of attraction to him because his attitude dragged her down.

The pair still held out hope their relationship could maybe work out, and neither spouse was willing to give up.

On the latest Season 12 Married at First Sight episode, Jacob told Pastor Calvin Roberson in a one-on-one conversation, "I do admire her determination and sort of her strong will, and I could see why we were matched because I do think we complement each other in certain ways."

Haley told Dr. Pepper Schwartz during their own meeting that she liked how Jacob was a loyal and independent home and dog owner.

Pepper pointed out Haley hadn't made any changes for Jacob when he was clearly trying to change for her, which made Haley break down into tears because she wanted to be married so badly and felt "a sense of failure."

Jacob felt this was his last chance to find love and he was unfortunately repeating the dating mistakes of his past.

"Do you genuinely think I am the person for you though?" Haley asked.

"I think if you wanted this, it would work," Jacob replied.

Haley therefore shared with Jacob how she was willing to keep trying and fighting for their relationship.
