Maksim Chmerkovskiy took "full responsibility" for missing a dance with partner Vanessa Lachey on Dancing with the Stars last week amid reports of a feud, but any beef between the pair has definitely been squashed since then.

Maksim, 37, penned a sweet message to Vanessa on Instagram one day after taking the stage with her on Monday night for an emotional rumba routine inspired by the initial scare of emergency surgery but ultimate joy of welcoming her third child with husband Nick Lachey prematurely in December 2016.

"Everything I ever want for my partners is literally what @vanessalachey has brought to the dance floor last night. Raw, unapologetic, real emotion expressed through a beautiful dance," Maksim wrote in the post alongside a series of photos of the couple performing on Dancing with the Stars.

"Yesterday also marked the first time when I completely lost it right before the dance... I rarely cry but this was something different, something I've yet to experience watching someone else's story."

Maksim appeared to connect to Vanessa's story because he is a new father.

He and wife Peta Murgatroyd welcomed their first child together, a son named Shai Aleksander, earlier this year, and the dance he choreographed for Vanessa was a celebration of having completed her family in 2017.

"I'm proud of you partner! They can say what they want but you're a star and I wouldn't want to be on this rollercoaster with anyone but you!" Maksim continued.

"And we have so many more of these moments to share with each other, and everyone else who couldn't stop their tears...#teamBabiesAndBallroom #DWTS #NeverADullMoment."

Maksim and the 36-year-old TV personality earned 24 out of 30 possible points for their dance on Monday night, which marked the pro dancer's return to the ballroom after missing the performance show a week earlier for an undisclosed "personal issue." (Alan Bersten filled in for Maksim on "Guilty Pleasures" night).

"Everything with Maks and Vanessa seemed back to normal this week and no one was talking about it," a source told Us Weekly after Monday night's Dancing with the Stars broadcast. "It's like it didn't happen."

At the time of Maksim's absence, rumors circulated of ongoing tension behind-the-scenes with Vanessa. Numerous sources claimed to Us and People that the couple was fighting constantly in rehearsals and found themselves miserable working with each other.

Days later, however, Maksim apologized to Vanessa for skipping out on the show, and a source told Us that conflict became "water under the bridge."
