The couple had been together for three years and began dating in 2008.
Reports that Conrad and the 33-year-old actor and former My Boys star had gotten "secretly engaged" and were planning to announce the engagement on her upcoming MTV reality show had surfaced in January, but the 25-year-old reality TV star had denied the claims.
"I will tell you exactly what I told the Post," Conrad's representative told Us Weekly at the time. "This is totally false."
MTV later opted to pass on Conrad's new reality series, which had been announced by the network in September and was supposed to follow the professional life of the reality star turned best-selling novelist and clothing designer as she launched a new clothing line and worked on some other businesses.
