Kate Gosselin says while her relationship with ex-husband Jon Gosselin is still estranged, she wishes he would spend more time with their eight children.

"He sees them. He has them two weekends a month and I wish that he would see them more, to be honest -- so do they -- but I think the important thing is that I control my reaction, my behavior, my attitude, and my words," the Kate Plus 8 star said during a Monday morning appearance on NBC's Today show.

"I am doing what I can to reach out and communicate. What I receive back is not in my control. I'm doing the best that I can to involve him in our family."

During the interview, the reality TV star was also asked about the status of 6-year-old sextuplet siblings Colin and Alexis, who have been home-schooled since last fall when they began exhibiting behavioral problems in class.

"They're actually starting to integrate back in within the very imminent future. There's actual medical issues that we dealt with that they're doing wonderfully at home," Gosselin said.

"They're reading at the top level for kindergarten, as well as writing, and they're doing amazingly well. So, I know looking back now, I made the right decision. I did the right thing. They're blossoming."

The 36-year-old single mom explained she happily spends all of her free time with her kids, but as a result, her busy lifestyle has hindered her ability to get back out into the dating world.

"You start out the first time around and you're some single girl with not a lot of baggage or issues. I like to have fun and I don't have a lot of time for myself. I do have eight kids. I feel like I have my life together, pretty much," Gosselin added.

"But let's be honest, it's going to take a strong person to wrangle this mess... If he can pass the test, he's got to be Superman."
