After TMZ suggested Gosselin got hired at TGI Fridays in Lancaster, PA, a month or so ago because he needed the money, the former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star insisted to Us Weekly his job is basically just for fun.

"I work at TGI Fridays eight hours a week and give my paycheck to charity," Gosselin told Us.

"I love cooking, what's wrong with that? I've been working there about a month, so not long. I don't need the money -- DJ-ing is still my real job... It was just a hobby. I don't like sitting around."

Gosselin added that his career spinning tracks is actually "going amazing."

As for how he got started in such a position at TGI Fridays, Gosselin explained he's buddies with the general manager, Scott Trompeter, who approached him about the opening. The father of eight was also reportedly well known amongst TGI Fridays in the area because he DJ'ed at different locations for special nights such as "Bartender's Champion."

Trompeter reiterated to Us how Gosselin got a job at the restaurant for selfless reasons.

"Jon's part of our Friday family here," the manager said. "He does a great job for me. He comes in and works and does the prep and he donates his paycheck every week."

Gosselin, who divorced Kate Plus 8 star Kate Gosselin in 2009 after 10 years of marriage, has 15-year-old twins Mady and Cara as well as 12-year-old sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel.

Six months ago, Gosselin revealed on the Steve Harvey Show that he barely saw his children, and when he did, he wouldn't even have them all at once. The former reality TV star also said the communication lines with his ex-wife were absolutely closed unless absolutely necessary.

The kids haven't even visited their dad while working at TGI Fridays.

"I don't want to mix that," Gosselin noted. "I'm trying to make their lives as normal as possible."
