J-pop star and FENDI global ambassador Ren Meguro has joined the cast of FX's Shōgun for Season 2, which takes place about a decade after the first season.
"I am incredibly honored to join the cast of Shōgun Season 2," Meguro said in a statement Monday.
"When I streamed Shōgun on Disney+ last year, I was profoundly moved by the series' unique and grand portrayal of Japan, which felt different from past portrayals. As a Japanese person, I felt a compelling urge to be part of this groundbreaking production," he added. "I am committed to honoring the legacy that so many have built before me and to carefully shaping the role entrusted to me in this remarkable series."
Returning cast members include Hiroyuki Sanada, Cosmo Jarvis, Fumi Nikaido, Shinnosuke Abe, Hiroto Kanai, Yoriko Diguchi, Tommy Bastow, Yuko Miyamoto, Eita Okuno and Yuka Kouri.
The first season of the adaptation of James Clavell's bestselling novel won 18 Emmy Awards.
