"The Mark Burnett team is extremely creative and talented -- masters at crafting entertaining reality programming," said HGTV programming executive Freddy James.

"We expect that they will infuse HGTV Design Star with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas that will serve as a blueprint for a successful fifth season."

HGTV Design Star's first four editions were produced by Sally Ann Salsano's 495 Productions production company.

In addition, HGTV has begun casting for the show's fifth season. Information is available via HGTV's website and submissions need to be postmarked January 19.

"We are thrilled to have our first program with HGTV and the Scripps family of networks," said Burnett.

"We look forward to rolling up our sleeves and making HGTV Design Star even bigger, better, and more exciting than it has been in seasons past."

The Antonio Treatment, a new reality series starring HGTV Design Star fourth-season winner Antonio Ballatore, is currently in production and is slated to premiere in March.
