In addition to St. Louis, auditions will also take place in six other locations: Portland, OR; San Diego, CA; Pittsburgh, PA; Charleston, SC; Denver, CO; and Houston, TX.

American Idol's eleventh season will use the same 15 to 28-years-old age range that the reality competition introduced last season. (Prior to Idol's tenth season, 16 had been the minimum age.)

More specifically, all contestants must be between 15 and 28-years-old as of June 26, 2011 -- meaning all applicants must be born on or between June 27, 1982 and June 26, 1996 in order to be eligible to participate.

Besides meeting the competition's age requirements, applicants must also be eligible to work in the United States.
