Jason Wahler has called off his engagement to Katja Decker Sadowski -- ending his hopes for a reality series that would document the couple's preparation to walk down the aisle.

"I have decided to end my engagement, and it's an amicable split," Wahler told Us Weekly in a Thursday report.  "We agreed we are both just too young to be considering getting married right now."

The former Laguna Beach star and 21-year-old University of Southern California student got engaged in July 2007 and the proposal immediately didn't sit well with The Hills star and Wahler ex-boyfriend Lauren Conrad.

Still, Sadowski had previously told Us that she wasn't wary of Wahler's hard-partying past and wanted to wed him "sooner rather than later."

"But my parents want me to finish school first and that won't be until 2010," she told Us last June. "So we want to do it probably a little bit before graduation, but I need my parents' help to plan the wedding!"

Another reason the engagement presumably lasted so long was because last April Wahler started shopping 22 and Taken, a new reality series starring himself, Sadowski and their friends as they prepared for their eventual wedding.

Last month, E! News reported Wahler was still "working on developing" the series.

With that project apparently on the shelf permanently, Us reported Wahler is currently shopping Jason and the Cougars -- a new Age of Love-like reality dating series that would follow him as he attempts to woo older women.
