Jason Wahler is apparently astonished that MTV decided to bring Whitney Port's The City back for a second season.

"I can't believe it got picked up for a second season," Wahler told E! News in a Wednesday report. "I thought it was a terrible show."

The City premiered on MTV in late December and follows Port as she embarks on a new life in New York City that includes working for fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg.  MTV renewed the series for a second season last week.

"I like Whitney, but they are trying to drag her show out too much," Wahler told E! News.  "I didn't know that many people who were watching it to begin with, so for it to be renewed is shocking."

Wahler is presumably bitter that Port's The Hills spinoff has already aired an entire season and has also been renewed before his own reality series concept has even been formally ordered by a network.

Last April, Wahler boasted on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show that he was shopping 22 and Taken, a new reality series starring himself and his fiancee Katja Decker-Sadowski as they prepared for their wedding.

"We'd like to go with MTV because of the fan-base we have there," said Wahler at the time.  "But it's still being shopped.  There's a lot of people interested.  We're just getting at the very end of what we need to do.  We'll be in post-production in the next month I'm hoping."

Nine months later, Wahler is still "working on developing" the series, according to E! News.
