The former NFL star and Dancing with the Stars eighth-season celebrity participant was indicted by a New York grand jury on Wednesday on charges of rape, criminal sexual act, sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and patronizing a prostitute, E! News reported.

If convicted on all the charges, the 51-year-old faces a maximum of four years in state prison, according to E! News.

The indictment comes after Taylor was arrested early last month as part of an investigation into accusations that he paid a 16-year-old runaway girl from the Bronx $300 to have sex with him.

The teenager told Montebello, NY police that she was brought to a Holiday Inn by alleged pimp Rasheed Davis and "verbally threatened and physically assaulted" before seeking treatment at a nearby hospital.

Taylor was subsequently arraigned on charges of third-degree rape and patronizing a prostitute before being released on $75,000 bail. He pleaded not guilty and his attorney denied the charges.

The 51-year-old had previously been arrested several times on drug charges -- including in 2001 when he was convicted of possessing drug paraphernalia in New Jersey.

He also received five years of federal probation in 2000 for filing false tax returns and for tax evasion.
