The five-time Dancing with the Stars champion has joined the upcoming third season of ABC's country music drama Nashville with a multi-episode role, Deadline Hollywood reported.

"Can't wait ! @NashvilleWrites: So excited for @derekhough from @DancingABC to be joining our fantastic cast! Get pumped, #Nashies!! #ABClove," Hough tweeted on Thursday, confirming his new gig.

Hough, 29, will play the character Noah West, "a beguiling and disarming movie star who will cross paths with the players of Nashville's music realm for the first time when he's tapped for a leading role in the biopic of a famous country singer," according to the website.

Besides competing on Dancing with the Stars as a professional partner for 13 seasons, Hough previously appeared on Better With You, an ABC comedy series, and starred in Make Your Move, a South Korean-American independent dance movie inspired by Romeo and Juliet.

Hough is still returning to Dancing with the Stars for its upcoming nineteenth season despite his new acting job. ABC just announced the lineup of pros earlier this week.
