Lifetime has announced the third season of Dance Moms will premiere with a 90-minute episode on January 1, 2013 at 9PM ET/PT.

Preceding Dance Mom's third-season debut, the network will air a Dance Moms Special: The Smoke Before the Fire at 8PM PT/ET. The special will feature dance studio owner and instructor Abby Lee Miller and her students' mothers dishing on the upcoming season and Miller's girls dancing new choreography.

Dance Moms' third season, which Lifetime revealed in October it had ordered, will continue to spotlight Pittsburgh's renowned Abby Lee Dance Company and chronicle Miller and her dancers as they attempt to take on the world of competitive dance by pursuing National Dance titles, rehearsing daily and traveling around the United States for weekly competitions.

Dance Moms is produced by Collins Avenue with Jeff Collins, Michael Hammond, Mike Aho, and Bryan Stinson serving as executive producers.
