Lifetime has announced it has renewed Dance Moms for a third season.

Like its first two seasons, the third season of Dance Moms will continue to follow dance studio owner and instructor Abby Lee Miller, her students and their mothers.

"With major [ratings] growth season-to-season and a bonafide star in Abby Lee Miller, Dance Moms continues to be a top performer and important franchise for Lifetime. It's become a force in the docusoap genre and we're very pleased to bring Dance Moms back with more episodes next year," Lifetime executive Rob Sharenow said in a statement.

Dance Moms' third season will also to spotlight Pittsburgh's renowned Abby Lee Dance Company and chronicle Miller and her dancers as they attempt to take on the world of competitive dance by pursuing National Dance titles, rehearsing daily and traveling around the United States for weekly competitions.

Lifetime has ordered 26 new hour-long episodes of the series for debut in 2013. Dance Moms' second season aired its finale early last month.

Dance Moms is produced by Collins Avenue.
