Colton Underwood apparently doesn't see anything wrong with telling four different women -- and their families -- he's "falling in love" with them on The Bachelor.

As shown on Monday night's episode of The Bachelor's 23rd season, Colton expressed he was "falling in love" with Hannah Godwin, Cassie Randolph, Tayshia Adams and Caelynn Miller-Keyes.

Colton was subjected to backlash for expressing such strong feelings for so many women at once, especially Caelynn, whom he eliminated at the subsequent Rose Ceremony only days later.

But the 26-year-old charity founder and former professional football player took to Twitter on Monday night to defend his behavior on the show.

"PSA: 'falling in love' is much different than 'I'm in love or I love you' #TheBachelor," Colton tweeted.

Eleventh-season The Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe also stood up for Colton, saying that she understands his seemingly-strange perspective given The Bachelor's unique process and environment.

"There's a difference between falling in love with 4 people and deeply loving one," Kaitlyn explained on Twitter.

"Have you ever been in a situation where you had the opportunity to exhaust 4 different relationships, meet families & continue to pursue that many women? When it's the 'format,' it's possible."

Colton was even slammed for asking the ladies' fathers for permission to potentially propose marriage.

One social media user suggested the gesture makes women appear inferior to men and times have changed.

"Those are my values and beliefs," Colton argued.

"These women are independent and can clearly make decisions on their own, however, it's a respect thing. I can only pray that if I have a daughter the man that asks her to marry her has a conversation with me first."

Colton also insisted he asked the women's mothers for their blessing to marry their daughters as well.

"I'll always stand up for what I believe in," Colton wrote Tuesday on Instagram.

"Everyone is entitled to their opinions, in fact I encourage everyone to have their own opinions and beliefs. Stop trying to fit into a mold and making statements because they are socially 'convenient' to make."

The next episode of Colton's journey to find love airs on Monday, March 4, and The Bachelor star will be shown deciding whether or not to enjoy a Fantasy Suite date with Tayshia, Hannah G. and Cassie.
