Colin Farrell says his Minority Report co-star Tom Cruise "wasn't very happy" after he flubbed a scene for the movie after partying hard the night before.
"It was my birthday on May 31, and we were shooting, and I begged production -- who did I think I was? -- of a $120 million film, if they would not have me working on my birthday," he told Colbert. "I know, how sweet."
Farrell was not given the day off, however, and he "got up to all sorts of nonsense the night before," he said.
"And I remember getting into bed, and as soon as I turned off the light, the phone rang, and it was the driver outside," he continued.
Farrell requested that they get beers ahead of filming, which did not afford him an easy shoot."I'll never forget the line that I had, that I couldn't get out," he added. "It was, 'I'm sure you've all grasped the fundamental paradox of pre-crime methodology.'"
He said it took 46 takes to get it right.
Minority Report was released in 2002.
Farrell will next star in the films Ballad of a Small Player and A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.
