Ryan Coogler, who directed Black Panther, spoke during the ceremony, as did Viola Davis, who starred in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom with Boseman.
"His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world," the Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, Ana Martinez, said in a statement.
Boseman's wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, accepted the award.
