Carrie Underwood is set to headline the 2016 New Year's Eve celebration in New York's Times Square.

Underwood, the winner of American Idol's fourth season, will be starring on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2016 on Thursday, December 31 at 8PM ET/PT on ABC.

Underwood will headline the live show and perform a variety of her hit songs in front of about 1 million fans in Times Square moments before the ball drops. American Idol host Ryan Seacrest will be hosting the celebration once again.

"There's nowhere else I'd rather be than New York's Times Square, one of the most magical places in the world, to ring in the New Year," Underwood said in a statement. "It's going to be a memorable night, and I can't wait to celebrate with the world!"

"The first time I heard Carrie sing, I knew she would be a superstar, and each year she continues to dominate the charts," added Seacrest. "I can't wait to see her rock Times Square and ring in 2016 as our headliner."

Underwood rose to fame in 2005 when she won American Idol. She has found huge success over the years as a ten-time Billboard Music Award winner, an eight-time American Music Award winner and a seven-time Grammy Award winner.

Actress and comedian Jenny McCarthy will report live from Times Square while popstar Fergie returns to host the Billboard Hollywood Party.
