Caitlyn Jenner's name and gender change is now official.

A judge approved Jenner's request to legalize her new identity as a woman on Friday when her lawyers appeared in court on her behalf, People reported.

Caitlyn, 65, filed the gender petition and paperwork to formally be called "Caitlyn Marie Jenner" instead of "William Bruce Jenner" on September 15 in Los Angeles County Superior Court. She reportedly wasn't present when the judge made the big announcement.

Caitlyn was also granted her request for secrecy when it comes to her medical record and very personal details regarding her physical transformation. She feared physical threats from people not understanding of the transgender community even though she's received incredible support since publicly coming out in Vanity Fair's July issue.

Although Caitlyn's identity has been legalized, there are still some people who need more time to come around -- including his ex-wife Kris Jenner, who is only comfortable calling her by her last name. Caitlyn's children also still refer to her as "Dad" as to not make the situation more difficult for them.

"It's been a ride, for sure," Caitlyn's daughter Kendall Jenner recently told Women's Wear Daily, according to People.

"But I've known since I was a kid. He never confirmed it to me, but I've known for a very long time. It's the same person. My dad says it herself sometimes, it's kind of like mourning the loss of someone, because it is. My dad is my dad, but he's not there physically anymore. But she lets me call her 'Dad' -- that's the last little piece of Dad I've got."

I Am Cait airs Sunday nights at 8PM ET/PT on E!.
