Blake Moynes has revealed what he thought his chances were of Katie Thurston allowing him to join her cast of bachelors and also his initial reaction to The Bachelorette star knocking on his hotel-room door late at night.

Blake, a 30-year-old wildlife manager from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, surprised Katie by asking to join her The Bachelorette season several weeks into the process because he was convinced they'd be a great match and may even leave the show as an engaged couple.

Blake admitted he thought there was a possibility Katie might reject him, especially since he had already competed for two previous The Bachelorette stars, during a Thursday appearance on Tayshia Adams' Click Bait with Bachelor Nation podcast, which was co-hosted by Mike Johnson and Bibiana Julian.

"Walking in, it was like a 50/50 tossup [Katie would keep me around] for me," Blake revealed.

"At the same time, there's a side to this that online, because of the way that she was on [Matt James' The Bachelor] season and then the way that I was on [Clare Crawley and Tayshia's] season, people would tag us nonstop every day saying comments and posts like, 'You guys would be great [together]! You guys would be great!' And there's no way she didn't see that, because I saw it all the time."

Blake continued, "But we never approached each other about it at all. So I knew in the back of her mind, she may have thought... she might've had an inkling that out of anyone [on Tayshia's season] it could potentially be [me] because everyone was trying to ship that."

Blake acknowledged he was "so nervous" about showing up late on Katie's season.

"If she was like, 'What the f-ck are you doing?' I would look like a f-cking idiot," Blake said. "I was really scared, of course, but I just needed to see that little conversation through."

Blake said he ultimately "felt good about" his first face-to-face interaction with Katie but he "wasn't sure."

Katie told Blake that although she could sense there was immediate chemistry between them, she needed some time to think things over, especially because bringing Blake into the picture might disrupt relationships she had been forming with her original bachelors.

Blake said he therefore initially assumed producers would have him join the season's third Rose Ceremony to "stir the pot" and learn his fate on the show, but instead, Katie surprised him at his hotel room at 5AM.

When Katie knocked on his door, Blake said he was "not expecting her at all" and "had no idea it was going to happen."

"So when the Rose Ceremony started, I thought I was going to be good for the night," Blake shared. "I had no idea."

"I just went to bed thinking, 'Okay, I have a whole other day before something happens,'" Blake recalled.

"So I think they knew I was probably thinking that way, and so they stirred the pot a little bit by having her show up in the middle of the night and catch me off guard."

Blake joked that producers do "a hell of a job" making good television.

"When you open the door and there's lights and she's standing there in that bright gown, dude, [I was] so nervous, so nervous!" Blake admitted.

"Normally you prep for stuff a little bit, so when you're woken up at 5AM and you're in your undies, like, it's not ideal!"

Katie ultimately invited Blake to join her cast of bachelors and compete for her heart since her gut was telling her that he sincerely wanted to get to know her and hopefully fall in love.

Not only was Blake in his boxers, but he also got locked out of his hotel room once Katie left.

Before The Bachelorette began filming, Katie and Blake had a brief DM exchange on Instagram earlier this year, and Katie admitted on The Viall Files podcast hosted by Season 21 The Bachelor star Nick Viall that she "wasn't interested" in Blake at the time.
