Becca Kufrin's ex-boyfriend, Ross Jirgl, stormed onto The Bachelor set to win back the love of his life, and host Chris Harrison commends Arie Luyendyk Jr. for the way he handled the situation.

"One thing we haven't ever seen before is a man from someone's past coming halfway around the world to try to win his ex-girlfriend back," Chris wrote in his Entertainment Weekly blog.

"I have a feeling Ross expected a very different ending than the one he got with Becca. All of us tend to see ourselves as the protagonist in our own romantic comedies, but as far as this experience is concerned, Becca's journey to love simply does not include Ross."

On Monday night's The Bachelor episode, Ross said he took a plane to Peru and drove five hours just for a chance to speak with Becca and hopefully talk her into giving him one more chance.

Ross was ready to marry Becca and anticipated she'd still have love in her heart for him after seven years on and off together, but the bachelorette had moved on and didn't want to revisit their "unhealthy" romance.

"I think it's great that Ross and Becca had this interaction, as it seemed pretty clear that he was determined to take one last shot with her," Chris said.

"I also really appreciate the way Arie handled Ross. He told Ross the truth about their relationship but he also made sure not to speak on Becca's behalf."

Arie warned Ross that he and Becca had already expressed feelings of love for each other, but Arie couldn't speak for Becca as to whether she would want to reunite with Ross and try again. Arie just hoped Becca would choose him, telling the cameras he would be "crushed" if she left because he loved her.

"Becca is her own person and as silly as it might seem, it's important that Arie not step in and interfere with a relationship that was a big part of her life," Chris explained in his blog. "Those are her decisions to make, and boy did she make them."

Ross gushed about Becca having "a heart of gold" and the "soul of a saint," but it was too late, as Becca noted of their tumultuous history, "It ended for a reason."
