Bob Guiney thinks the future is bright for recently eliminated American Idol 6 finalist Brandon Rogers -- and after turning an unsuccessful appearance on ABC's The Bachelorette into a starring role on the fourth season of The Bachelor, he probably should know.

"We saw [Rogers] play a lot at the Hotel Cafe, which is a cool place to play in [Los Angeles]," Guiney told mlive.com, a Michigan news website.  "He's really talented... We actually played a couple songs together at Hotel Cafe, and he's a great piano player, too."

Guiney was back in his home state of Michigan this weekend to perform with his appropriately titled Bob Guiney Band.  He graduated from Michigan State University -- where he was a quarterback for their football team -- and appeared on the original season of ABC's The Bachelorette before Trista Ryan decided he wasn't rose-worthy. Guiney later returned as the star of the fourth season of The Bachelor, which aired in the fall of 2003.  Guiney narrowed the 25 suitors down to Estella Gardinier, a California mortgage broker, but the two broke-up shortly after the show aired.

Don't cry for Guiney just yet, because in July 2004 he married All My Children actress Rebecca Budig, who also hosted ABC Family's reruns of Guiney's The Bachelor edition.  Now living in Los Angeles with Budig, Guiney says he met Rogers at a Los Angeles Laker game.

"Brandon is a good buddy of mine," Guiney told mlive.com.  "We had a couple of parties at our house, and we just started hanging out. It was actually my neighbor, [former The Ashlee Simpson Show star] Ryan Cabrera, who introduced us."

Despite seeing his bud get eliminated this past Wednesday night, Guiney still has high hopes for Rogers.

"We haven't seen his best work yet," Guiney told mlive.com.
