Grande, 32, was a guest Tuesday on the The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where she told host Jimmy Fallon that she "almost passed out" when she heard who she'd be sharing the stage with Dec. 20 on SNL.

"What an honor," Grande said, telling Fallon that she only found out that Cher would be on the show two days before it was announced.

"She's the icon. This is one of the gayest SNL episodes that they've done, right?" Grande added.

Grande will host the episode, while Cher will appear as musical guest. Although Cher had a cameo on "Weekend Update" in 1992 and sang her hit "If I Could Turn Back Time" on the SNL50 anniversary special, she has not performed as musical guest on SNL since Nov. 21, 1987.

In addition to discussing SNL and the Wicked sequel Wicked: For Good, Grande and Fallon performed a duet, which the talk show host said marked the first time they have sang together.

The penultimate episode for 2025, on Dec. 13, will be hosted by Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery star Josh O'Conner, with musical guest Lily Allen, NBC announced last week.
