J. "Miss J." Alexander will be returning to the judging panel for Top Model's second "Guys and Girls" edition that is set to air this summer. The new season will feature seven male and seven female contestants in addition to a new creative consultant, Yu Tsai, a renowned photographer.
"His name says it all. I've missed 'Miss J.' and am elated he's back," Top Model executive producer Tyra Banks said in a statement. "I know Top Model fans will rejoice!
"We are thrilled to have 'Miss J.' reprising his role as runway coach and judge extraordinaire," added executive producer Ken Mok. "'Miss J.' has been a part of the Top Model family since Cycle 1 and we are thrilled he's come home."
J. Alexander served as a regular judge on the panel from the series' fifth to thirteenth season. He took on the role of runway coach and guest judge up until the conclusion of Season 18. J. Alexander then left the show entirely for its nineteenth and twentieth editions. He will judge alongside Banks and fashion public relations maven Kelly Cutrone.
As for Tsai, he helped launch the careers of supermodels including Kate Upton and has worked on campaigns with national brands such as GUESS. The CW did not immediately respond to a message attempting to clarify whether former creative consultant Johnny Wujek will remain part of the show.
"We are also excited to have world renowned photographer Yu Tsai joining Top Model this season as creative consultant to the models -- he's one of the world's most well regarded photographers and his work speaks for itself," Mok said.
This season, the aspiring models will compete for the following prize package: a fashion feature in NYLON Magazine, a $100,000 national ad campaign with GUESS and an offer to sign a modeling contract with Next Model Management.
The CW announced it had renewedTop Model for a 21st season back in late October.
Fans will continue to have voting power next season via online and telephone to choose their favorite contestants based on photo shoots taken during production. Voting will begin February 20 and continue through April 1 and ultimately decide which favorite eliminated model will have the chance to re-enter the competition.
BryanBoy, a blogger who presented the public's voice on social media and voting, will apparently not be returning to the lineup next season.
