Neal Boyd has died at the age of 42, authorities in Missouri said.
He performed as an opera singer on Season 3 of NBC's "America's Got Talent" in 2008, delivering renditions of "Somewhere" from West Side Story and "Nessun Dorma" from the opera Turandot that propelled him to win the competition.
"We are very saddened to hear that one of our AGT family members, Neal Boyd, has passed away," America's Got Talent wrote on its Twitter account.
"Our hearts are with Neal's loved ones during this difficult time."
Former "America's Got Talent" judge Piers Morgan shared a photo of Boyd posing with the other judges and offered his condolences."Very sad to hear that Neal Boyd, Season 3 winner of @AGT, has died at 42 from heart failure," Morgan wrote. "Lovely guy with a wonderful voice. RIP."
After winning the show, Boyd released his debut album My American Dream in 2009.
In May, Boyd announced on Facebook he was working on crowdfunding a new album, while recovering from a car crash in 2017.
"I will take some time to write this year and record next year to give my voice time to heal, and train to make it even stronger," he wrote at the time.
