Amazon MGM Studios has announced a new television series based on Stargate is in development.
Gero was an executive producer on the series Stargate: Atlantis and also worked on Blindspot and Keep Breathing.
Gero will be joined by executive producers Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell for Safehouse Pictures, along with Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich.
Emmerich directed the original Stargate film in 1994 that kicked off the military sci-fi franchise. Kurt Russell and James Spader star in that film.
"Twenty years ago, my first real job in television was as a story editor on Stargate: Atlantis. I spent five years at the franchise working across all three series, Stargate taught me everything about making television -- it's written into my DNA. I'm beyond thrilled that Amazon MGM Studios has entrusted me with guiding this incredible franchise into its next phase," Gero says in a statement."For those who've kept the gate active through conventions, rewatches, and unwavering faith-this one's for you. And for those that are new to our world, I promise you're in for something extraordinary," he continued.
Gero also discussed the new series in an announcement video posted by Prime Video.
