The news comes as creator Noah Hawley renews his overall deal with FX. Hawley also created the TV adaptations of Fargo and Legion for FX.

Alien: Earth is set before the 1979 Alien. A Weyland-Yutani ship crashes on Earth with a xenomorph and four other specimens.

Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin), creator of a new brand of androids, vies for control of the specimens. Sydney Chandler plays one of the new synthetics and Timothy Olyphant plays a previous model android.

UPI praised the series in its review for maintaining the frights of the films and posing new, provocative questions. Season 1 premiered in August and the eight episode season concluded Sept. 23.
