Netflix released a 2 1/2-minute trailer for its upcoming romantic comedy People We Meet on Vacation.

"Free-spirited Poppy and routine-loving Alex have been unlikely best friends for a decade, living in different cities but spending every summer vacation together," a synopsis said.

"The careful balance of their friendship is put to the test when they begin to question what has been obvious to everyone else -- could they actually be the perfect romantic match?"

Set for release on Jan. 9, the movie is based on Emily Henry's best-selling novel.

It stars Tom Blyth as Alex and Emily Bader as Poppy. The cast also includes Sarah Catherine Hook, Jameela Jamil, Lucien Laviscount, Lukas Gage, Miles Heizer, Tommy Do, Alice Lee, Alan Ruck and Molly Shannon.

Tuesday's preview shows Alex and Poppy traveling the world, having a blast and wondering if they might be more than friends and not realizing it.
