ABC has announced that NASCAR in Primetime, a new docu-reality series that will offer viewers a behind the scenes look at the inner workings of stock-car racing, is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, August 8 at 9PM ET.

The five-part series was filmed over the course of five months by ABC News and documents the personal and professional stories of stock-car drivers who compete weekly in NASCAR, the largest sanctioning body of motorsports in America.

Each one-hour episode of NASCAR in Primetime will provide viewers "uncensored access" to some of its top drivers -- including Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Juan Pablo Montoya and Mark Martin -- and follow everything from their preparation before the race to their competition on the track.

NASCAR in Primetime began filming in mid-March at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and will represent ABC's second NASCAR-themed show of the summer.

Fast Cars & Superstars - Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race, a new reality series that will provide a mix of 12 athletes and entertainers the opportunity to try their hands at stock-car racing while under the tutelage of six of NASCAR's most talented and popular drivers, is scheduled to premiere Thursday, June 7 at 8PM ET as a lead-in to the NBA Finals.
