MTV has announced that The Hills, a new Laguna Beach spinoff series that will follow Laguna star Lauren Conrad as she moves to Los Angeles, will premiere Wednesday, May 31 at 10PM ET/PT.

"The Hills is to Laguna Beach what Melrose Place was to Beverly Hills 90210," Tony DiSanto, who executive produces both MTV series, stated in the network's announcement. "Audiences loved Lauren in Laguna, and we are thrilled to be able to continue showing her story as she embarks on the next phase of her adult life juggling work, school and relationships in Los Angeles."
Joining Lauren in The Hills cast will be Heidi, Audrina and Whitney, three new friends who like Lauren, are chasing their own dreams in Los Angeles. According to MTV, Heidi, Lauren's roommate, has set her sights on a job with LA's premiere party promoter, Brent Bolthouse. Heidi's first priority is LA's social scene, and she sets her schedule around her nightlife. Audrina, a photography studio receptionist, aspiring model/actress and "bona fide Hollywood serial-dater," lives in the same complex as Lauren and Heidi. Whitney is a student at USC and fellow Teen Vogue intern who makes her internship the "top priority in her life."
Also appearing on the show will be the girls' various love interests -- including Jason Wahler, Lauren's former Laguna boyfriend with whom she's since reconciled.
