UPN's 'Top Model 5' finale to air December 7, reunion show to air the following week

By Steve Rogers, 11/21/2005

UPN has announced that it will broadcast the season finale of the fifth edition of its America's Next Top Model series on Wednesday, December 7 at 8PM ET/PT. But once the finale ends, that won't be the last time that viewers will see this season's girls -- the following week, UPN will air America's Next Top Model: The Cycle 5 Reunion, a one-hour reunion of all the fifth season's contestants.

After this week's Top Model 5 episode cuts the number of remaining girls to four, Top Model 5's November 30 broadcast will feature the remaining girls learning about British fashion trends and then attempting to impress top London designers with what they learned. Then, after a Bollywood-inspired photo shoot in which one girl comes to regret taking medicine from another, the three models who will participate in the finale episode will be determined.

During Top Model 5's December 7 one-hour finale, the three remaining girls will participate in a CoverGirl campaign shoot, after which one girl will be cut and legendary photographer Gilles Bensimon will shoot the two remaining girls with Tyra Banks for ELLEgirl's February 2006 cover. Along the way, numerous special guests will appear, including previous Top Model winners Eva Pigford and Naima Mora.

In their final challenge, the two remaining girls will strut their stuff in a fashion show for London designers Vanya Strok and Nargess Gharani -- after which one girl will be crowned the season's America's Next Top Model winner. In addition to sharing ELLEgirl's February 2006 cover with Tyra, the winning girl will receive a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl, an ELLEgirl fashion spread, and the opportunity to be managed by Ford Models. Leading up to the finale, UPN will also rebroadcast Top Model 4's Return to the Runway special (which originally aired in September before this season's edition premiered) on Tuesday, December 6 at 8PM ET/PT.

The next week, UPN will air Top Model 5's reunion show in the show's normal Wednesday 8PM ET/PT time period. Hosted by Tyra, the show will reunite all the Top Model 5 girls and give them a chance to gush about how their lives and careers have changed since participating in the show. Already taped, the special's topics will include the winning girl's future plans, Cassandra talking about how she has dealt with her new short hair, and Ashley talking about her engagement and the damage Hurricane Wilma caused her home. In addition, the special will also feature some more never-before-seen Top Model 5 footage and highlights from the season's finale party.
