Alex McCord is real-life proof that not even posh reality stars are immune from the country's current economic recession.

The Real Housewives of New York City star has lost her job in visual merchandising for Victoria's Secrets, Life & Style Weekly reported Tuesday.

McCord's last day working for Victoria's Secret was February 27, and she told Life & Style her position was axed when the company cut 10% of its home-office employees.

"It was definitely a very big surprise," McCord told Life & Style.  "My own immediate supervisor didn't even know it was happening."

McCord added her husband Simon is still employed as Hotel Chandler's general manager, and she's decided on the hunt for a new job.

"It's really interesting to see where to go from here. I've been making calls, updating my resume, and sitting down with people and chatting. I'm exploring all of my options," she told Life & Style.

"If I'm not able to replace my income by the time my severance runs out, discretionary expenses and our nanny are where we'd have to cut back."

McCord is one of the women chronicled on The Real Housewives of New York City, new second-season episodes of which currently air Tuesday nights at 10PM ET/PT on Bravo.

The Brooklyn-based mother of two said her The Real Housewives co-stars "have been overwhelmingly supportive," according to Life & Style.
