Jake Pavelka is remaining mum on whether he found love during his The Bachelor journey.

"I don't want to ruin the ending," he told reporters during a Wednesday conference call.

"I stayed true to myself from the very beginning. I went in and said very honestly if I find love I'll come out engaged. If I don't find love and have that feeling, than I won't. So I didn't promise a ring at the end of this and I stayed true to myself and didn't necessarily do what everybody wanted me to."

The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love -- the ABC reality dating series' fourteenth installment -- will premiere Monday, January 4 at 8PM ET/PT and follow the 31-year-old commercial pilot from Dallas, TX as he whittles down a group of 25 bachelorettes with the goal of finding love, which was more difficult than he anticipated.

"I figured, just in my mind, on the first night I'd watch these girls come out and after the first Rose Ceremony I would know who my Final 4 women would be," Pavelka told reporters.

"Halfway through the entire journey, I still had absolutely no idea whatsoever because it was cast for my temperament so well. The women were incredible. So I had a lot of romance and my heart went out to multiple women and the Rose Ceremonies were very difficult."

Pavelka said he had to go into The Bachelor with confidence because without it there would be no point in going through "all the pain and heartache."

"The producers and the casting department, they know me -- just from the top of my head to the soles of my feet know my temperament, the love language I speak -- they really do know me. I guess psychologically they know what type of girl I am going to be attracted to. That's the way they cast," he told Reality TV World during the conference call before adding there were still no guarantees.

"If there's not just that magical spark that you can create, it's never going to work."

While Pavelka said there isn't anything controversial about him because he feels like he "doesn't have anything to hide," he added that doesn't mean that his experience was smooth sailing.

"I can tell you from the get-go it is a very rocky and very dramatic season," he teased.
