The Amazing Race eliminated Tim Wiyninger and Daniel "Danny" Merkey during Sunday night's sixth broadcast of the CBS reality competition's 23rd season.

The "Best Friends" became the fifth team eliminated from the around-the-world competition after they arrived at the Race's sixth Pit Stop at The Gloriette, the centerpiece of the Schonbrunn Palace's garden, in last place.

"We had high expectations for ourselves. We wanted to go all the way. For never leaving the country, I do think we made it pretty dang far, for newbies to the world," Tim said following his team's ouster. "The Amazing Race was an unbelievable experience. I got to spend it with my best friend, traveling the world. I'm just thankful for this opportunity and it was just a blessing."

"Yeah we didn't win a million bucks," Danny added, "but we have memories that will last us a lifetime."

The sixth episode of The Amazing Race's 23rd edition began with the Race's seven remaining teams leaving the fifth Pit Stop at Gdansk, Poland's Sopot Pier, the longest wooden pier in Europe.

"Exes" Timothy Sweeney and Marie "Reebs" Mazzocchi departed the pier in first place at 8:33AM. Following Timothy and Marie were "Dating Couple" Jason Case and Amy Diaz at 8:34AM, "Married ER Doctors" Nicole Jasper and Travis Jasper at 8:35AM, "Baseball Wives" Nicole "Nicky" Getz and Kim DeJesus at 8:48AM, Tim and Danny at 8:51AM, "Cousins" Leo Temory and Jamal Zadran at 10:10AM, and "LA Kings Ice Crew Girls" Allison "Ally" Mello and Ashley Covert at 10:18AM.

The teams' first set of clues instructed them to travel 640 miles by train to Vienna, Austria. Once there, they must find the Vienna State Opera House, and inside, a court jester named Rigoletto who would lead them to the costume department where they'd receive their next clue.

Marie and Timothy waited for Jason and Amy so the teams could begin the Race's leg together. The two pairs had formed an alliance after helping one another with a previous task.

The first available train, which connected in Warsaw at 8:54PM that night and subsequently arrived in Vienna at 6:40AM the following morning, had all the teams onboard except for Leo and Jamal and Ally and Ashley.

However, Leo and Jamal and Ally and Ashley booked tickets on another train that would allow them to catch up to the other teams in Warsaw and take the same morning train as them into Vienna.

All the teams eventually met up in Warsaw, as they had a four-and-a-half hour layover until their next train. At this point, everyone was on a level playing field, and no one was seemingly thrilled to see Leo and Jamal. All the teams talked a little bit at the train station and Leo and Jamal denied ever U-Turning Brandon Squyres and Adam Switzer, which no one really believed.

The teams arrived at the Vienna Opera House around the same time -- fairly quickly one after the other.

The teams then had to select one of two possible Detour tasks: "Light Brigade" or "Masquerade."

"Light Brigade" required the teams to dress in a costume and properly assemble an elaborate crystal chandelier to the satisfaction of the chamberlains. However, the teams only had one chance to get it right. If they failed to do the task successfully, they'd need to move on and attempt "Masquerade."

"Masquerade" required the teams to don ornate masks and join a lavish Viennese ball. The dancers in the ballroom were wearing intricately-designed masks with only subtle differences in color and pattern. The teams had to pay attention to detail and match up their own masks with those of a dancing couple's.

The teams, however, were also given the opportunity to choose to complete the Fast Forward task. If a Fast Forward task is completed, a team may skip the leg's remaining tasks and travel directly to the Pit Stop. Only one team could take advantage of the Fast Forward. If multiple pairs attempted the task, the first team to complete it would be the only team granted the opportunity to head to the Pit Stop.

All the teams took on the "Masquerade" task except for Jason and Amy, who got to the clue box in first place and decided to try the Fast Forward instead. Nicole and Travis, in second place, decided to go for the Fast Forward as well, but when they realized Jason and Amy would probably get to the task first, they had their cab turn around and go back to the Detour location.

Located at the Donauturm, the Fast Forward required Jason and Amy to perform a 500-foot bungee jump.

Unfortunately, once Jason and Amy arrived at the task, the instructor told them it was far too windy and therefore dangerous for them to jump. The instructor said they could either leave or wait until the weather conditions improved. Jason wanted to leave immediately as to not waste any time whereas Amy wanted to wait it out since the wait may be as little as 10 to 15 minutes.

After talking it out, the couple decided to skip the Fast Forward and go back to the "Masquerade" Detour task.

Timothy and Marie completed the Detour in first place. They were then followed by Nicky and Kim, Leo and Jamal, Ally and Ashley, Tim and Danny, Nicole and Travis, and finally Jason and Amy.

The next clue instructed the teams to make their way to Weiner Sangerknaben and search for their next clue. Timothy and Marie fell behind at this point because they had trouble getting a taxi.

Leo and Jamal were the first team to arrive at Weiner Sangerknaben. They were soon followed by Ally and Ashley, Nicky and Kim, Tim and Danny, Nicole and Travis, Timothy and Marie, and Jason and Amy.

It then became time for one member of each team to complete a Roadblock task.

For the Roadblock, the team members were required to join the Vienna Boys Choir and sing "Die Forelle" by Franz Schubert. The Racers were judged by the choir director on their pronunciation of the German lyrics and their musicality. A great performance would earn them their next clue.

Tim, Travis, Timothy, Ally, Nicky, Jamal, and Amy all chose to take on the Roadblock task on behalf of their teams.

Travis was the first person to complete the Roadblock task after two attempts. He and Nicole then received their next set of clues, which instructed them to make their way to Schonbrunn Palace and search a garden maze for their next clue.

Nicky also completed the task on her second try. When she and Kim left the building, they saw that Jason and Amy's cab driver -- whom was told to wait -- had taken the couple's bags out of the vehicle and placed them on the ground. Although the taxi was technically free to use at that point, the girls decided it wasn't right and looked for another one on their own.

Leo and Jamal then finished the Roadblock after two tries, followed by Timothy and Marie after two attempts. Timothy and Marie decided to take Jason and Amy's cab and eventually lie and tell people it was Leo and Jamal who stole it. Jason and Amy finished the Roadblock task next after Amy performed the song well in only one attempt.

Jason and Amy were then followed by Ally and Ashley and then Tim and Danny. Ally and Tim really struggled with the words and rhythm of the song. Both Racers finally were given their next clue after five attempts, but Ally and Ashley gained that little time advantage by getting their next clue first.

Once at the garden maze, Jason and Amy spotted their original cab driver and ran over to see which team had stolen their taxi. They then saw Timothy and Marie's bags and were shocked and disappointed about their discovery.

Nicky and Kim were the first team to find their way through the large garden maze. They were then followed by Nicole and Travis, Leo and Jamal, Timothy and Marie, Jason and Amy, Ally and Ashley, and finally Tim and Danny.

The teams then made their way to the leg's Pit Stop, The Gloriette.

Nicole and Travis were the first team to reach the Pit Stop mat and be greeted by The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan. For finishing the leg in first place, they won a trip for two to Anguilla.

Nicky and Kim finished as the second team, and Leo and Jamal finished in third place.

Fourth place went to Timothy and Marie, and then Jason and Amy subsequently arrived at the Pit Stop in fifth place. Jason and Marie bickered on the mat about the cab incident.

Jason called the team's move "sneaky" and made it clear their alliance was over. He told Phil that himself and Amy were the "better team" and they'd definitely beat Timothy and Marie. Marie tried to defend her team's move by saying it was a race and a competition, suggesting Jason and Amy would've probably done the same thing if in their shoes.

Ally and Ashley arrived in sixth place. Tim and Danny then claimed seventh -- and last -- place.
