Second episode of 'The Simple Life' draws even better ratings

For those keeping track, it looks like FOX's "a rising tide will lift all boats" unusual 8:30 PM programming strategy is paying off well for the network, as Wednesday's second episode of the series not only scored more great ratings, but also brought season-high ratings to its lead-in and lead-out programs.

According to the final overnight ratings for Wednesday, December 3, the second episode of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie's The Simple Life drew 13.3 million viewers, an increase of 200,000 viewers over its Tuesday premiere. In addition to leading its timeslot in total viewers, the program also topped its timeslot in the advertiser-friendly Adults 18-49 demographic and most other key measures.

Compared to Tuesday's 8:30 PM ET premiere, Wednesday's ratings performance in the same 8:30PM ET timeslot was up 12% in Adults 18-49 and 24% in Adults 18-34, implying that viewers enjoyed what they saw on Tuesday and quickly returned for more.

Airing immediately after the program at 9PM ET, a new episode of FOX The O.C. delivered its highest ratings ever among Adults 18-49 and won its time period in the Persons 12-34 and Teens demographic. The network's 8PM ET episode of That '70s Show also experienced a similar ratings surge, as the show also won its half hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, and Teens demographics and delivered its highest ratings in Total Viewers in almost seven months.
