Report: Trump offered Rosie $2 million to appear on 'Apprentice'

By Christopher Rocchio and Steve Rogers, 07/31/2007

Despite engaging in a heated war of the words with her earlier this year, The Apprentice star Donald Trump apparently thought he could buy Rosie O'Donnell's participation in the upcoming celebrity edition of his NBC reality show.

The former The View co-host was reportedly offered $2 million to appear in the The Apprentice's upcoming seventh edition, according to Fox News, but not surprisingly, she spurned The Donald's offer.

"I wouldn't do it for $200 million," O'Donnell reportedly responded when The Apprentice executive producer Mark Burnett's production company approached her about appearing on the show's currently-casting celebrity edition, according to Fox News.

O'Donnell and Trump began their war of the words back in January when Trump announced Miss USA Tara Connor would keep her title, which was in jeopardy due to underage drinking.  As part of her agreement with Trump, Connor entered an in-patient substance abuse rehabilitation center.  O'Donnell said Trump, who is twice divorced, had no right to be "the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America," sparking a string of nasty media exchanges between the pair.

The View co-host Barbara Walters was eventually brought into the fray, which allegedly spilled over onto the talk show's set, sparking another exchange of nastiness...and still another

Most recently, Trump took credit for O'Donnell being "fired" from The View despite the fact ABC announced she was leaving the show because the network wanted her to sign a three-year deal as co-host, while she only wanted a one-year deal, causing O'Donnell to walk away.

NBC announced that The Apprentice would return for a seventh edition that will feature celebrities vying to be crowned Trump's "Best Business Brain" earlier this month.  It's currently scheduled to air as 2007-2008 midseason programming.
