Fashion guru Tim Gunn is scheduled to guest star on an ABC series that's right up his alley -- Ugly Betty, which follows a young woman who works as an editorial assistant at the fictional Mode fashion magazine.

The Project Runway design expert and judge will appear on the Thursday, February 1 episode titled "I'm Coming Out," as well as the Thursday, February 8 episode, titled "Brothers and Friends."  Both episodes are scheduled to air at 8PM ET/PT on ABC and have Gunn playing a fashion reporter covering a huge scandal that "rocks the fashion world" during the Mode Fashion Week runway show.

Gunn will be sharing the spotlight during "I'm Coming Out," as American Idol 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee will also guest star on the episode and play the role of a celebrity guest (herself) at the Mode Fashion Week runway show.  It's no real surprise that two guest stars will be appearing in the same episode, as it just happens to air during the first night of the important February 2007 Nielsen Media Research ratings sweeps period.

Although Bravo has yet to announce when Project Runway's fourth season will begin production,  Gunn has been keeping busy, with the network recently announcing plans to give him his own Tim Gunn's Guide to Style reality series.  The show will be based on "Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste & Style," a new book that he's co-writing with writer Kate Moloney.  Despite the uncertainty surrounding exactly when Project Runway's fourth season will begin, Bravo president Lauren Zalaznick has stated she fully expects Gunn to be back when it does return.

Ugly Betty recently won a Golden Globe for top comedy series, and America Ferrera, who plays the show's title character, won for best actress.
