Paula Abdul wishes new 'Idol' judge Ellen Degeneres "best of luck"

By Christopher Rocchio, 09/11/2009

Paula Abdul apparently isn't holding a grudge against Ellen DeGeneres for replacing her on American Idol's judging panel.

"I think Ellen will b a gr8 judge on Idol," wrote Abdul in a Twitter posting on Thursday.  "She is wildly funny, talented and I wish her the best of luck!"

Fox announced on Wednesday that it had tapped DeGeneres to replace Abdul -- who last month used her Twitter page to announce that she would not be returning as a judge for the show's ninth season.

"I hope Paula is okay with it. I don't want anybody to think I took Paula's job away," DeGeneres said during a Thursday interview on Idol host Ryan Seacrest's KISS-FM radio show.

"I feel like she was gone and then everybody was looking for somebody else, then I stepped in. I certainly don't want to be that person that is the evil taking Paula's job away."

Despite her job as an Idol judge coming to an end, Abdul stated she is currently keeping busy rehearsing for VH1's upcoming VH1 Divas concert special.

Abdul will host the event, which will also feature performances by former Idol finalists Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks and Jennifer Hudson.

VH1 Divas will air live on Thursday, September 17 at 9PM ET/PT.
