Original 'American Idol' winner Kelly Clarkson to open first solo tour

Kelly Clarkson, winner of the first "American Idol" competition, is preparing to hit the road for her first solo headlining tour.

"The Breakaway Tour" opens March 30 in Tulsa, Okla., and winds up in Vancouver, British Columbia, May 29, "Access Hollywood" said. Other stops on the 34-city tour include New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

"Nothing makes me happier than being on the road," the 22-year-old singer said. "I can't wait to see the fans and perform my new material."
